APPROVAL OF EXCHANGE AGREEMENT FOR FUTURE SCHOOL SITES IN WELLEN PARK
Description
There are numerous residential projects proposed or already approved in Wellen Park in North Port. Since this is an area of growth, staff has determined that a K-8 school and a high school will be needed in this location to serve the future educational needs in this area. The District owns a future K-8 site in Wellen Park that will be exchanged for a new site adjacent to the site of a future high school site that is being purchased. This agreement provides for the exchange of the K-8 site and the purchase of the high school site. Both sites will total 130+ acres with a purchase price of $10.2 million. Funds for this purchase will come from the 2019-20 and 2020-21 capital budgets.
Recommendation
That the School Board approve the exchange agreement with Manasota Beach Ranchlands, LLLP to exchange and purchase sites for future schools in North Port, as presented.
