APPROVAL OF THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION SERVICES FOR THE SARASOTA HIGH SCHOOL BUILDINGS #13 AND #14 RENOVATION PROJECT - PHASE 1 PORTABLES AND STAGING
Description
On 10/18/2022 (Item #21), the Board approved the "Agreement between Owner and Construction Manager for Preconstruction" for the Sarasota High School Building 13 & 14 Renovation Project. On 10/3/2023, the Director of Construction Services and a member of the Professional Services Selection Committee (PSSC) successfully negotiated a contract with Gilbane Building Company for the first construction phase of the project. The scope of work for Phase 1 includes: converting an existing portable #99-756 to office space; leasing, setup, and connection of ten (10) new portables and one (1) new restroom portable to create swing space on site; site work; and general conditions to commence construction. The balance of the work will be added to the contract via change order. The Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for this Phase 1 contract is $2,143,577.00. The total project budget is $40,883,780.00.
Gap Analysis
Approval of this contract will allow the project to proceed seamlessly while the GMP is finalized.
Previous Outcomes
The final design is complete and the project is "out for bid" now and will be submitted to the Board for approval at an upcoming board meeting.
Expected Outcomes
The benefit of approval of an early contract will allow work to commence to prepare the site and swing space for the relocation of students and staff. This will allow the construction to proceed while the Construction Manager finalizes the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the remainder of the project.
