APPROVAL OF CONTRACT BETWEEN QUIET WATERS THERAPY LLC AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FL.
Description
The contract provides mental health support for students and small group counseling including grief, anxiety, organizational skills, conflict regulation and develop safety plans for at-risk for suicide, when written parental consent is obtained. This contract supports Booker Middle School only.
Gap Analysis
Throughout Sarasota County, there can be extensive waitlists with agencies that serve students requiring more intensive mental and behavioral health support. Mental health support will be provided to students with parental consent on campus at Booker Middle School improving access to services and better academic and behavioral outcomes.
Previous Outcomes
This is a continuing contract to help support Booker Middle School. In the earlier part of this year, from January to May 2023, a total of 20 students received support services. These services were available twice a week for most of this period, resulting in a total of 223 interventions or sessions being conducted to help provide student support. Interventions were delivered during non-academic periods, and parental consent and information releases were obtained in all cases.
Expected Outcomes
Students and families engaging with mental health support, with consent, will improve skills needed to increase attendance, academic engagement, and life skills, while reducing the need for involuntary examinations.
